Genesis

  1. B.Sc. with PCM combination was introduced in 1963 and B.Sc. with PMCs and PME combinations were introduced in 1988; courses were affiliated to Bangalore University
  2. Introduced certificate and value added courses
  3. M.Sc. in Physics course was introduced in 2012

Mission

To generate graduates and post-graduates of caliber sought by industries, scientific community as well as academic teachers and researchers to the future

Objectives

  1. To show broad spectrum of modern trends in physics and to develop experimental, computational and mathematical skills of students
  2. To develop scientific temperament among students
  3. To give students physics-oriented activities in-house to build self confidence
  4. To motivate students to take-up projects to cultivate research culture
  5. To pursue higher education through continuous learning with effective science communication skills

Milestones

  1. B.Sc. with PCM combination was introduced in 1963 and B.Sc. with PMCs and PME combinations were introduced in 1988; courses were affiliated to Bangalore University

  3. M.Sc. in Physics course was introduced in 2012
  4. At present both B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses are permanently affiliated to Bengaluru City University
  5. Both B.Sc. (NEP) and M.Sc. (CBCS) courses are of semester type.
  6. CPE phase – I & II sanctioned from UGC in 2015
  7. UGC-STRIDE research grants received in the year 2021
  8. UGC DAE Mumbai Research project has been received in the year 2022-23
